The Function
of DETEX Gamma Sterilisation Indicators
DETEX labels
are self-adhesive labels which are coated overall with
a special ink. This ink is formulated
to
change colour from yellow to red when passed through
the irradiation process.
DETEX labels are very simple to use, they can be applied
by hand and by semi or fully automatic applicators to
suit your packaging process.
DETEX labels start to change colour at 5kGy, with a
more distinct colour change as the dosage increases,
e.g.
28kGy.
DETEX labels are available as dots or as a stripe on
plain white or printed labels.
DETEX labels have a recommended shelf life of 12 months
for both processed and unprocessed labels.
DETEX labels should NOT be stored in direct sunlight
and kept away from strong alkaline solutions.

Since the irradiation process provides no visible change
to the properties of the packaging, Sessions' DETEX labels
which change colour from yellow to red when irradiated,
provide a visual indicator that products have been through
the irradiation cycle. |
