SESSIONS SPECTRUM LABELLER PROVES PRECISE AND RELIABLE

Carrs Paper maintains standards with accurate labelling and precision print

Asked for a solution to a labelling problem that would print variable information legibly onto existing label formats before applying, Sessions of York has supplied Carrs Paper Ltd. with twin-headed Spectrum labelling machines. Interfaced with the paper manufacturer’s existing production line, the compact Spectrum incorporates a thermal transfer unit to overprint the labels, which are used to identify boxes containing reams of paper.

The Spectrum labelling machines are used on a production line that handles A4 paper. The same outer pack is used for all paper specifications with the label used to identify the product. Because of this, the customer wanted to use existing label formats, which would be printed with product information immediately prior to being applied to the box.

“Reliability and the precision print and labelling are what we were after”, explains the Carrs Paper maintenance team leader. “It was important the print could be read easily as there is a lot of information required on a small label.” Beyond that he admits, he has very little to do with the Sessions machines. “When the units were installed the production line operators were shown how to set it up. As it’s so user friendly and reliable, the production team don’t need to come back to maintenance. Basically, I don’t have a lot to do with it, because it works well.”
