When Biotrace, a leading manufacturer and supplier of industrial microbiology products required a highly accurate labelling machine to apply labels to its hygiene swabs, Sessions of York responded with the installation of its HSRC 2000 – a high speed version of Sessions' popular RC30.

Designed to label round containers and products at up to 400 per minute, the HSRC 2000 incorporates a linear roller conveyor, which transports the products to a SPA 925 (Sessions Print & Apply) labelling unit. Once applied, the label is securely wrapped around the item while continually moving through the system.

Switching from one product size to another is fast and trouble-free involving minimum change-parts. Using Sessions' well-proven SPA 925 print/apply applicator, the labelling system can be supplied as a print and apply model providing superb quality for texts and barcodes. Also available fitted with a hot foil printer, the compact labeller is designed to minimise demands on floor space in production and packaging areas.

A spokesperson for Biotrace commented: "Due to increased production requirements, we required a new labeller to replace the original RC30 and the HSRC 2000 was the ideal solution. We wanted a machine that was faster and would increase efficiency and productivity, so we looked no further than Sessions as we have used them for over eight years and they are one of the best in the industry. Sessions met all our requirements and we were extremely impressed with the way they installed the new machine efficiently and effectively."

For the Biotrace application, the HSRC 2000 was fitted with an in-feed hopper, custom made by Sessions to suit Biotrace's hygiene swabs, and a heat tunnel. The spokesperson continued: "We required a few modifications to our system including in-feed mechanism and a heat tunnel, but everything went well and was completed on time."
