SESSIONS PROVIDES THE TOTAL LABELLING SOLUTION

Sessions of York will feature its Braille self-adhesive labelling solution at this year's Total exhibition at the NEC in Birmingham, demonstrating their ability to surpass the new recommended Braille standard and keep their customers ahead of the latest standard. Last year, EU Directive 2004/27 stated that information for the partially sighted and blind should be provided on medical products. This includes Braille on the packaging itself (under Article 56a). The Government's recommendations for minimum dot heights hover between 0.46-0.50mm on cartons and 0.25mm for label printers, however, these are not viable on most high-speed packaging lines, machines and materials. Sessions have surpassed these directives and have achieved highly accurate 0.37mm - 0.4mm minimum dot heights on their high speed label presses. Sessions are printing Braille self adhesive labels to very precise tolerances on transparent filmic material.

Continuing with innovative labelling solutions Sessions will also be showcasing its enhanced Scratch and Sniff label. Responding to a demand for multicolour printed graphics coupled with fragrance coating, Sessions has perfected the development of an alternative method of applying the microencapsulated fragrance. This results in high quality multi-colour process illustration plus spot colours, and the application of the fragrance medium in-line. This streamlined manufacturing technique has the added benefit of shorter lead times and a more cost-effective product.

Sessions' Machine Division will be launching their latest innovation with the debut of their 'CAT SLEEVE 500' Sleeving Machine. This machine is the culmination of an in depth R&D study by Sessions of the developing sleeving market. The CAT SLEEVE 500 has to be on your 'must see' list at the show.

Amongst the innovations on the stand is Sessions' latest addition to its range of Multi-Task Thermal Transfer Printers - the RCP64 - a machine specifically developed to both print and apply labels to round containers from the smallest vials up to wine bottles. Sessions is demonstrating the RCP64's unique powered bottle jig facility which offers quick and easy changeover for short and medium labelling runs, as required by many smaller production units. Fast product changeovers are achieved by combining printing, rewinding and applying into one simple operation.

Sessions' will also feature the improved RC30 self-adhesive labelling unit - one of the most popular and widely used units designed and manufactured by Sessions of York. The RC30 handles small cylindrical items and difficult-to-handle products such as vials, syringes, inhalers, pencils, batteries, tubes and lipsticks. The RC30 has recently undergone further development, and now has a smaller footprint reducing demand on line space, and has more safety features, making the PLC controlled machine ideal for busy production environments.

You can find out more about these exciting products and other Sessions of York labels and labelling solutions, on Stand 4415 at Total 2007 from 15th to the 18th May 2007 at the NEC, Birmingham.
