Sessions of York has supplied a large financial organisation with a number of print and apply labellers to assist with its large mailing operation. Based on Sessions’ proven Magnum range, these machines are designed to apply labels accurately to flat products such as envelopes, backing cards, pamphlets and bags – ideally suited to the needs of this particular customer. With two locations processing vast amounts of mail for its large customer database, the systems in place operate at extremely high speeds. However, interrupting these systems for smaller mailings proved to be uneconomical so the company approached Sessions for a unit that was flexible enough to cope with smaller runs. Using its machinery expertise, Sessions developed the labeller according to the specific needs of the application. The machine has an intermittent feeder unit on the infeed which separates the envelopes and feeds them on to a primary conveyor where they are labelled by a Sessions’ top-mounted Spectrum 115mm labeller. The envelopes are then ejected on to a slower secondary conveyor which ‘shingles’ them for dispatch. The Spectrum is renowned for its flexibility and with an advanced stepper motor drive, full speed adjustment in linear metres per minute is quick and easy. The unit is also perfect for areas where space is at a premium – with integrated electronics it is compact and light in weight yet still extremely durable. The labellers can be configured for either top application or side application, and are available in deck widths of 115mm and 195mm. |
