SESSIONS OF YORK MEETS CHALLENGING LABELLING PROBLEM

Customised five-headed labelling system handles range of
95 cartons for packaging automotive products

Underlining its unrivalled expertise in customising labelling systems, Sessions of York recently built a unit to apply and overprint multi-functional labels for a range of 95 cartons - in a wide range of shapes and sizes - for packaging automotive products.

This versatile five-headed machine, applying closure and bar coded labels, is designed for ease of set-up ensuring minimum operator involvement. The Sessions unit features both apply only and print and apply labelling heads. Configured around a primary transport conveyor, the unit is engineered for maximum versatility to handle the extensive range of cartons.

Sessions produced a software programme incorporating dedicated machine settings for each of the individual 95 carton specifications; with each labelling head mounted on linear positioners.

Switching from one carton size to another is achieved simply by inputting a carton code that automatically moves the machine heads into position. Print text details are also changed automatically at the same time.

The labelling heads incorporated in this machine are from Sessions range of Avery Labellers with the Print & Apply heads being the latest SPA 92X series machines and the applicators SL 230 models. The robust design of these machines is ideally suited to hostile work environments.
