Home > Editorial Intro > Index The product development team at Sessions of York has solved a complex labelling problem for a global leader in speciality chemicals. The dilemma for this particular company is not all its customers require products to display supplier logos on the label. Sessions designed an innovative piggyback option providing a two-layer label with an easy peel upper section, allowing removal of the company name without evidence it had ever been there and leaving the clear base layer intact. With labels printed in production batches and applied to product before storage to meet future customer orders, the eventual destination of the product it is not readily apparent at that time. Nevertheless product identification is paramount to satisfy internal procedures, so omitting labels from selected orders is not a feasible option. Approaching several labelling companies for an effective solution, various samples were considered including labels with perforations and a kangaroo option. Sessions won the order with its ingenious piggyback concept coupled with its superior, easy-peel performance. Sessions worked closely with its customer to ensure the shape and materials were the most user friendly and cost-effective possible, providing mock-ups for fullest consideration before the order was placed. Original label orders were printed via a thermal transfer printer and applied by hand to a variety of chemical containers from the highest volume sacks to smaller containers including drums. Such is the success of the new labels they have recently been adapted to enable them, once printed, to go through an automatic applicator. |
