Investment in a new high tech printing press has enabled the Commercial Print Division of Sessions of York to achieve a significant boost in the quality of its offset litho printing process. In addition, the new machine has allowed a dramatic reduction in time spent on producing printing plates and on setting up print runs. Sessions points out that this new technology will result in customers gaining substantial benefits in terms of print quality, speed of delivery and keenly competitive pricing. Integration of computer and laser technology into the traditional offset litho printing process has made it possible to download digitised text and colour images directly to Sessions' new Quickmaster DI 46 Pro printing press for almost immediate printing. Within 15 minutes of downloading a file, the machine laser etches four printing plates while they are mounted in position on each of the four print stations on the press. An IBM computer automatically adjusts all ink settings and, at the touch of a button, the press is able to print extremely high quality images. Sessions' new press is designed to meet an increasing trend towards the need for smaller print runs with better quality and shorter production times. In a comparison between the type of images printed from downloaded files and those produced by digital copiers where the image is created with dry or liquid toners, the images available from the Quickmaster press proved to be of significantly superior quality. In addition, customers' full colour jobs received on disk can be up and running on the press within minutes. The company's Commercial Print Division has invested in the cutting edge of print technology to keep it ahead of the field in high-speed production of specialised labels. Other products manufactured by this division include high quality printed cartons, especially for the cosmetics industry. Also, its wide range of tags, tickets and tallies can be supplied either punched, strung or unstrung, folded, foil-blocked, laminated or embossed. Perfume testing strips, security parking permits, business stationery, periodicals and short run high quality books all testify to the division's versatility. |
