Quakers in Medicine: Friends of the Truth (Apr 09)
This is a brief account of a selection of brilliant Quakers in search of medical truth often set against a stark background of religious prejudice and adversity. Their achievements make an inspiring lesson in medical science, history, compassion and philanthropy. John Pearce, a neurologist and author of many papers and books, highlights the extraordinary discoveries and services to medicine to the wider community, made by British Quakers, both doctors and scientists.

Sufferings of the Early Quakers (10 volume set) (Apr 09)
This 10 volume set is a complete facsimile text of Joseph Besse's 2 volume leather bound 1723 edition of Early Quaker Sufferings. The original indexes have been replaced volume by volume with new reliable indexes incorporating both People and Places. There are 34 pages of places and 74 pages of surnames indexed across the ten volumes, making it easy to search for family names or places of interest. The series of 10 volumes details many hundreds of examples of Quaker Sufferings: the levying of goods, fines, imprisonment and death: a seemingly endless list of widespread suffering across the UK and parts of Continental Europe and Asia. Each volume is A5 in size with a sewn binding and gloss laminated cover for durability. Normally selling at £12.00 per individual volume, the complete set of 10 volumes is available at the discounted price of £100. This unique 10 volume facsimile edition of Early Quaker Sufferings will be of particular interest to libraries, researchers and genealogists and is a valuable source of information rarely (if ever) available from one source.

The Diary of Joshua Whiting (May 07)
The Diary of Joshua Whiting, banker's clerk and amateur beekeeper, covers the years 1861-1873. It has survived by chance and as well as being a valuable historical document it is an absorbing window into the life and hobby of a prominent citizen, countryman and Quaker of the period.
It will be of special interest to the residents of Hitchin, gardeners, bankers and beekeepers or indeed anyone interested in how a quiet life was lived in unquiet times.

The Story of Yealand Manor School (Sep 07)
In the spring of 1938 there were shadows over Europe. Soon after Hitler came to power in the 1933 elections, he started to take back the territories Germany had lost by the terms of the Treaty of Versailles at the end of the First World War. War with Germany was imminent and air attacks on major UK cities were predicted.
Three Manchester Friends - Elfrida Vipont Foulds, Margery Wilson and Christine Sutherland - had seen the chaos that had resulted from the Government’s ill-conceived evacuation plans in 1938. These three Friends wanted to be prepared.
